Mr. Robert Sauvé

Mr. Robert Sauvé: Mr. Sauvé has volunteered with the Sun Youth Organization of Montreal for over 20 years. He first started getting involved through his work as a Commander in the Montreal Police Service, organizing and taking part in numerous fundraising activities. This quickly changed into an annual tradition for his family to distribute Christmas baskets to the needy every December 24th. Mr. Sauvé has been sitting on the Bicycle Committee for years. The committee, thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, rewards deserving children by giving them a bike, helmet and lock. Every year, the committee spends countless hours reviewing all the requests for bicycles received from parents, teachers and others and speaking with all the children nominated which has earned him the title of Honorary Bicycle Committee President. After retiring from the Force, Robert Sauvé was appointed honorary president of the Bicycle Committee. He takes the time to personally call each person who puts forward a child’s name to make sure he gets the whole story. Mr. Sauvé, your contribution to the success of Sun Youth for over two decades has definitely enhanced the community spirit and touched the lives of countless Montrealers. I am very happy to appoint you recipient of the Senate of Canada 150 Medal.
